“Pronostico” Delivers Unforgettable Experience at Liberty Exhibition Hall

From September 20th to 22nd, the Liberty Exhibition Hall hosted “Pronostico,” an all-Latin cast play that delivered an unforgettable experience. The audience was immersed in the world of Moises, a man searching for meaning in his mundane, ordinary life, and witnessed as the universe provided answers in the most unconventional ways.

The play celebrated its writer, Victor Velez, who is renowned as a poet, writer, and musician. His creative genius shone through in this captivating production, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.

The LULAC Ohio Education Foundation (LOEF) proudly supports and highlights the works of Latin artists in Cincinnati, reinforcing their commitment to promoting cultural expression and artistic achievements within the community.

September 21, 2024 –

Raquel Sotelo, who earned the Honorable Mention ribbon, and Victoria Garland, accompanied by her son Wyatt, proudly participated in the Norwood International Art Show. The event showcased a diverse array of artistic talent, with Sotelo’s recognized work standing out among the many impressive entries. Garland and her son enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere, contributing to the community’s celebration of creativity and arts.

The LULAC Ohio Education Foundation (LOEF) is very proud of their members’ accomplishments and continues to support cultural expressions within the community.

On September 21, 2024, Laura Moese, President of the LULAC Ohio Education Foundation (LOEF), in partnership with Ruth Anne Wolfe, Executive Director of Community Happens Here INC., organized a vibrant Hispanic Heritage celebration for the Pleasant Ridge community.

The joyous event was brought to life by Alba Azamar, a LOEF member, and her “Salsamberas” group, who provided lively Salsa lessons. Tony Arreaga, a LOEF member and owner of Valle Verde restaurant, delighted attendees with delicious quesadillas, perfectly complemented by refreshing sangria prepared by the CHH team.

The celebration was a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together, enjoy cultural activities, and appreciate the rich heritage of the Hispanic community. The event was a resounding success, leaving everyone with fond memories and a deeper appreciation for Hispanic culture.

LOEF President Visits UC Digital Futures

On September 17, 2020, Laura Moese, President of the LULAC Ohio Education Foundation (LOEF), visited University of Cincinnati Digital Futures. Dr. Alejandro Lozano Robledo, Director of Future Mobility, provided her with a tour of his laboratory space. Professor Lozano, who was the keynote speaker at the upcoming LOEF 19th Scholarship Celebration, showcased the groundbreaking global and local projects his team is leading.

Moese was thoroughly impressed by the innovative work being conducted under Professor Lozano’s capable direction. She highlighted the significance of such remarkable advancements happening in the city, led by a distinguished Latino director. This visit underscored the incredible potential and impact of the projects at UC Digital Futures, reinforcing the importance of supporting and celebrating educational and technological achievements within the community.

LOEF President Laura Moese Hosts Hispanic Heritage Day at Rising Stars School

September 16, 2024 – Laura Moese, President of the LULAC Ohio Education Foundation (LOEF), organized a vibrant Hispanic Heritage Day at Rising Stars School. The event kicked off with a warm welcome from Dr. Jackson, the school director. Over 170 students from pre-K to 1st grade participated in the celebration.

Special guests included two Latin players from the Florence Y’Alls baseball team: Jonaiker Villalobos from Venezuela, who was named Pitcher of the Year (#20), and Zade Richardson from Puerto Rico, who was named Batter of the Year (#9). They attended the event along with some team staff, donating team merchandise and signing baseballs for the young students. The players also engaged in a lively Q&A session, answering questions from the enthusiastic audience.

Rising Stars School belong to Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS). We counted with the presence of Leyla Pena, CPS-English as Second Language coordinator , Saida Canel Family coordinator and, Tony Simms Cincinnati Commissioner and his wife Julieta. The event was a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about Hispanic culture and heritage, fostering a sense of community and appreciation for diversity.

LULAC Leaders Celebrate New Americans at Cincinnati Compass Event

September 13, 2024 – Lourdes Rivera, President of LULAC Cincinnati, and Laura Moese, President of the LULAC Ohio Education Foundation (LOEF), recently participated in Cincinnati Compass’s celebration of New Americans. This event highlighted the significant contributions of immigrants to the regional economy and the vibrant diversity of the community. Rivera and Moese took the opportunity to network, strengthen existing partnerships, discuss LOEF’s mission and future plans, and forge new alliances. The celebration featured a rich cultural exchange, with New Americans showcasing traditional dances, food, and art from their heritage, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures.

LOEF and CCGH create Health Literacy Partnership

August 28, 2024 – Laura Moese, president of the LULAC Ohio Educational Foundation (LOEF), had a productive working lunch with Renee Mahaffey Harris, CEO of the Center for Closing the Health Gap (CCGH) had created what they called Health Literacy Partnership. The meeting underscored the ongoing collaboration between LOEF and CCGH, aimed at enhancing health literacy within our community.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to providing essential health education and resources, ensuring that community members have the knowledge and tools needed to lead healthier lives. This partnership continues to make a significant impact, fostering a more informed and health-conscious community.

LatinoExpo Brings Community Together at Heritage Hill Elementary

August 25, 2024 – The Latino Coalition of Southwest Ohio (LCSWO) hosted a vibrant LatinoExpo at Heritage Hill Elementary School. The LULAC Ohio Educational Foundation (LOEF) actively participated, sharing information about its mission, scholarships, and services. LOEF also supported the event by providing Spanish-English interpreters to enhance accessibility.

The expo featured a variety of events and services, including an informative session on immigration law and law enforcement rights, opportunities for community members to connect with local agencies, health screenings, delicious food, lively entertainment, and a “Touch a Truck” experience with first responders’ vehicles. The event successfully brought the community together, fostering connections and providing valuable resources.

August 23, 2024 – Florence Y’All hosted a memorable Latin Heritage Night. Sponsored by P&G, the LULAC and LULAC Ohio Educational Foundation (LOEF) community joined the festivities. The evening was filled with delicious food, a spectacular fireworks display, and a thrilling Frontier League baseball game between the Florence Y’alls and the Schaumburg Boomers. Players proudly presented their heritage flags, adding a special touch to the event.

LOEF members successfully raised $547 through a split-the-pot fundraiser for LOEF scholarships. The organization extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in the fundraising and celebrated Latin Heritage Night with them.

July 19, 2024 – The LULAC Ohio Education Foundation (LOEF) hosted a vibrant fundraising event to support LOEF scholarships led by Victoria Garland. The event featured a creative floral arrangement class at Green Living by Design Garden Center, conducted by renowned floral designer Betsy Bowers. Attendees enjoyed a delightful combination of music, food, and flowers.

The class was a resounding success, raising over $500 for scholarships. LOEF extends heartfelt thanks to the volunteers, class attendees, and donors for their invaluable contributions in making this event a triumph.
