LOEF Participates at the 3rd Hispanic Heritage Festival at Princeton High School
Evendale, OH – September 28, 2024 – The Latino community came together in vibrant celebration at the 3rd Hispanic Heritage Festival, hosted by the Princeton City School District (PCSD). The event, directed by the dedicated Ana Martinez, PCSD Family Coordinator, was a resounding success, drawing attendees from all its neighboring community.
The festival was a testament to the rich cultural tapestry of the Latino community, featuring an array of Latin food trucks, music, and dances from countries such as Mexico, Ecuador, and Panama. The atmosphere was electric, with the community enthusiastically participating in a Zumba class that proved especially popular among teenagers and women.
Children enjoyed craft tables and various activities, ensuring fun for the entire family. Local organizations, including health providers, realtors, and universities, were on hand to share valuable information about their services. Companies offered food samples and snacks, while the LULAC Ohio Educational Foundation (LOEF) provided crucial scholarship information.
LOEF extends heartfelt congratulations to Ana Martinez and the PCSD for orchestrating such a remarkable event. The festival not only celebrated Hispanic heritage but also fostered a sense of unity and support within the community.
There truly was something for everyone at this year’s Hispanic Heritage Festival, making it a memorable day for all who attended.

LULAC Ohio Educational Foundation Honors 2024 Scholarship Recipients
CINCINNATI, September 20, 2024—LULAC Ohio Educational Foundation (LOEF) held its 19th Annual Scholarship Celebration at Northern Kentucky University. The theme of this year’s event was “Sembrando y Cosechando” (planting & Harvesting) – Forging Dreams to Become Reality, building a strong community.
During the event, LOEF honored 44 college scholarship recipients for their scholastic achievement. “ Lets continue to plant the seeds of strong education opportunity for all our students” said Laura Moese LOEF President. LULAC Ohio Educational Foundation 501c(3) Non-Profit: We provide Latino students education opportunities in our community. We raise funds for enrichment programs an ESL classes, scholarships to attend institutions of higher education and trade schools, entrepreneurship and career training. We inform high schools and Latino students about opportunities for higher education and scholarships from LULAC Ohio Educational Foundation.
LOEF President Visits Honeywell Intelligrate, Plans Future Collaborations
On September 27, 2024, Laura Moese, President of the LULAC Ohio Education Foundation (LOEF), visited Honeywell Intelligrated. Ricardo Ugas, LOEF Director of the Young Latinos Professional Network (YLPN) and Senior Product Development Manager at Honeywell Intelligrated, provided a tour of the impressive facility. The visit also included University of Cincinnati Professor Alejandro Lozano Robledo.
During the visit, Moese, Ugas, and Lozano discussed plans to collaborate with local companies and universities to offer guided visits for LOEF scholarship awardees. The goal of these tours is to expose students to Latino leaders in the community and to showcase the various career paths available to them. This initiative aims to inspire and guide students towards future job opportunities and successful careers.

IRLC Hosts Benefit Gala Featuring “Exodus Alternate Documents” by Willy Castellanos
On September 25, 2024, the Immigrant and Refugee Law Center (IRLC) and its Executive Director, Mayra Jackson, hosted a benefit gala showcasing “Exodus Alternate Documents” by Willy Castellanos. Castellanos, a celebrated art historian and co-founder of the Aluna Art Foundation, presented this thought-provoking exhibition that blends documentary photography with artistic interventions inspired by the Cuban exodus.
“Exodus Alternate Documents” has previously won the Miami Foundation Arts Award for Best Cultural Event in 2014, and it continues to captivate audiences with its powerful narrative and visual impact.
The LULAC Ohio Education Foundation (LOEF) celebrates immigrants and their journeys, and proudly supports member Mayra Jackson and their work with the IRLC. This event underscores the importance of cultural expression and the contributions of immigrants to the community.

“Pronostico” Delivers Unforgettable Experience at Liberty Exhibition Hall
From September 20th to 22nd, the Liberty Exhibition Hall hosted “Pronostico,” an all-Latin cast play that delivered an unforgettable experience. The audience was immersed in the world of Moises, a man searching for meaning in his mundane, ordinary life, and witnessed as the universe provided answers in the most unconventional ways.
The play celebrated its writer, Victor Velez, who is renowned as a poet, writer, and musician. His creative genius shone through in this captivating production, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.

Raquel Sotelo, who earned the Honorable Mention ribbon, and Victoria Garland, accompanied by her son Wyatt, proudly participated in the Norwood International Art Show. The event showcased a diverse array of artistic talent, with Sotelo’s recognized work standing out among the many impressive entries. Garland and her son enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere, contributing to the community’s celebration of creativity and arts.

Hispanic Heritage Celebration Brings Joy to Pleasant Ridge Community
On September 21, 2024, Laura Moese, President of the LULAC Ohio Education Foundation (LOEF), in partnership with Ruth Anne Wolfe, Executive Director of Community Happens Here INC., organized a vibrant Hispanic Heritage celebration for the Pleasant Ridge community.
The joyous event was brought to life by Alba Azamar, a LOEF member, and her “Salsamberas” group, who provided lively Salsa lessons. Tony Arreaga, a LOEF member and owner of Valle Verde restaurant, delighted attendees with delicious quesadillas, perfectly complemented by refreshing sangria prepared by the CHH team.
The celebration was a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together, enjoy cultural activities, and appreciate the rich heritage of the Hispanic community. The event was a resounding success, leaving everyone with fond memories and a deeper appreciation for Hispanic culture.

LOEF President Visits UC Digital Futures
On September 17, 2020, Laura Moese, President of the LULAC Ohio Education Foundation (LOEF), visited University of Cincinnati Digital Futures. Dr. Alejandro Lozano Robledo, Director of Future Mobility, provided her with a tour of his laboratory space. Professor Lozano, who was the keynote speaker at the upcoming LOEF 19th Scholarship Celebration, showcased the groundbreaking global and local projects his team is leading.
Moese was thoroughly impressed by the innovative work being conducted under Professor Lozano’s capable direction. She highlighted the significance of such remarkable advancements happening in the city, led by a distinguished Latino director. This visit underscored the incredible potential and impact of the projects at UC Digital Futures, reinforcing the importance of supporting and celebrating educational and technological achievements within the community.
